Quality Firearms Training and Educational Opportunities are Vitally Important
The NRA Foundation grants provide essential funding for programs such as youth education, law enforcement training, hunter education, conservation, firearms and marksmanship training and safety, and much more.
Youth Programs
The NRA has been actively involved in promoting the shooting sports to youth since 1903. We wish to ensure the future of the shooting sports by providing proper tools and resources to America's young people. There are a wide variety of youth programs including competitions, awards and contests, training and safety courses, scholarships, and more. Help instill firearm safety and introduce shooting sports to the next generation of gun owners.
Women’s Programs
With the number of women shooters on the rise, the NRA is dedicated to providing programs and resources to female gun enthusiasts. Through our women’s programs, you have the opportunity to receive firearms training by certified instructors, get involved in clubs and competitions, and receive awards and scholarships, and much more. Whether you are brand new to firearms or have been shooting for years, the NRA has opportunities for you to share in your passion for the outdoors and shooting sports with like-minded women.
Range Services
NRA Range Services offers a number of resources to public and private ranges across the country including on-site assistance, educational seminars, grants and much more. Take an online course, learn from the NRA Range Technical Team and find other educational materials and resources.
Eddie Eagle
The Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program teaches children in pre-K through third grade four important steps to take if they find a gun. These steps are presented by the program's mascot, Eddie Eagle, in an easy-to-remember format consisting of the following simple rules: STOP! Don’t touch. Run Away. Tell a Grown-up. At this kid-friendly website, children can watch the Eddie Eagle video, read through storybooks, join in sing-alongs, download coloring sheets and enjoy plenty of other fun activities reinforcing the gun safety message.
Education & Training
With roughly 1 million people attending NRA training courses annually, the NRA is recognized nationally as the Gold Standard for firearm safety training. Whether you're a new or prospective gun owner or hunter in search of training, whatever your age or level of expertise, whatever type of firearm you're interested in, NRA has the course for you. Individuals with a solid background with firearms can be credentialed and authorized to conduct NRA approved training courses. We offer gunsmith schools as well as courses to become certified Instructors, Counselors, Coaches, and Range Safety Officers.
Law Enforcement
The NRA established a Law Enforcement Division in 1960 specifically to provide the law enforcement community with a means to certify law enforcement firearm instructors. We also offer law enforcement firearm competitions, as we believe competition is a direct extension of training. Competitions consist of the National Police Shooting Championships as well as a new multi-gun law enforcement competition called the Tactical Police Competition, or TPC.
Competitive Shooting
NRA's Competitive Shooting Division offers a wide range of activities in all types of shooting, for everyone from the novice to the world-class competitor. The NRA sanctions over 11,000 shooting tournaments and sponsors over 50 national championships each year. Explore the options below to find rules, results, and information on upcoming matches and tournaments.
Hunter Safety & Services
When it comes to hunting and skills training, America's hunters have known for years where to go: the National Rifle Association. Working in cooperation with the state of New York in 1949, we developed hunter safety training as it's known today. Since then, our proven hunting education principles have been adopted by one state after another. Hunters contribute millions of dollars every year towards wildlife management and conservation projects as well as work to preserve the treasured tradition for future generations.
National Firearms Museum
The National Rifle Association details the history of firearms, shooting sports and American culture in three museums; NRA National Firearms Museum in Washington D.C., NRA National Sporting Arms Museum in Bass Pro Shops of Springfield, Mo., and the Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM.
